Documents by FTP?

Summary

For ftp, you can only use Internet Explorer as your browser, either to create or to retrieve the data. If you don’t have IE, third party software like FileZilla will work.

Details

For an outside user who needs to put data where an LCOG user can get to it:

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. In the address line, type: ftp.lcog.org/lcog

3. From the Page menu on the top right side of the browser, select Open FTP site in Windows Explorer

4. You will see two folders 
     Incoming 
     Outgoing

5. Double click on the Incoming folder

6. You can drag your file or folder to the Incoming area.
If that has problems, try copy and paste.

For an outside user who needs to retrieve data from our ftp site:

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. In the address line, type: ftp.lcog.org/lcog

3. From the Page menu on the top right side of the browser, select Open FTP site in Windows Explorer

4. You will see two folders 
     Incoming 
     Outgoing

5. Double click on the Outgoing folder

6. Find your file or folder.

7. You can right-click on it and choose Copy to Folder... 
     Pick one of your folders. 
     It copies.
