Galen Howard, Principal Planner, serves as the 9-1-1 Coordinator for the four Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) of Lane County. He manages 9-1-1 tax revenue used for the planning, operation and improvement of Lane area PSAPs and coordinates legislative and planning activities with the State 9-1-1 Program. Galen is coordinator for the Community Emergency Notification System and participates on the Regional Radio Interoperability Work Group. He has over 30 years experience in working with public safety and local government communication projects, including coordination of a 19-member Telephone Task Force, and implementing a multi-agency telephone system. |

Galen has been a member of the LCOG staff since 1974. He received a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations and a Master's in Community Service and Public Affairs from the UO. Galen is a member of the Oregon Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials and the National Emergency Number Association. He has served on numerous state level committees and received state-wide recognition for his contributions. Galen is currently active in a strategic planning initiative for future public safety telecommunication systems in the State of Oregon. email
