Community Emergency Notification System
LCOG coordinates and manages the Community Emergency Notification System (CENS) for the following partner agencies:  Eugene, Lane County, EWEB, Springfield, Cottage Grove, Florence, West Lane Ambulance and Siuslaw Valley Fire & Rescue. The emergency notification system places calls to phones within a given distance of an emergency situation, and notifies people of the incident and what their response should be (evacuate, stay indoors, etc.)  CENS includes the ability to notify by wireline, and now wireless, telephones. The system also has the ability to deliver a message to prepared lists of contact numbers. In addition, LCOG assists with event pre-plans and operating procedures/protocol for incident commanders and communications personnel. 

Public safety agencies in Lane County are expanding CENS with "Alert Me." By registering on the CENS Alert Me website, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and cellular phone owners can receive the same emergency message and critical information about emergency situations as those with landline phones – but only if you register!
