The
Boundary Commission is a State agency that reviews certain types
of local government boundary changes. Its members are appointed
by the Governor. Boundary changes include minor boundary changes
(annexations to or withdrawals from cities or districts, and transfers
of territory from one city to another city or one district to another
district). Major boundary changes include mergers, consolidations,
formations, and dissolutions of cities or districts.
The Boundary Commission
and LCOG have an intergovernmental arrangement that provides operating
services, including staffing, to the Commission.
Consistent with SB 417-Enrolled, passed by the 2007 Legislature,
the boundary commission will not accept new filings after December
31, 2007. Filings received by December 31 will be processed consistent
with the boundary commission law. Beginning January 2, 2008, requests
to change a city boundary will be filed with the appropriate city
and all other types of boundary changes will be filed with Lane
County.
