With a Cooperative Agreement from the Environmental Protection Agency, LCOG is coordinating the Multi-City/County Water Resource Assessment Project (MCWRAP) to help guide growth.
The Southern Willamette River Valley is characterized by rich and diverse water resources and a swelling population. Eight rural cities (Creswell, Cottage Grove, Lowell, Harrisburg, Adair Village, Monroe, Scio, and Mill City) in Lane, Linn, and Benton counties are addressing the potential impacts of future development on natural resources by guiding growth. Working within the State’s Land Use Goal framework, this project inventories and prioritizes water resources on detailed, local levels while working and communicating collaboratively. The local work will benefit individual cities, as well as the broader landscape of the watersheds, counties, and the region as a whole.
Rather than the cities working individually through essentially the same process, a team approach is being used to protect significant natural resources while promoting economic development.
