Joshua Burstein, Human Resources Manager, joined LCOG in January 2014. He provides organizational coordination and leadership to analyze, evaluate, develop, and respond to agency-wide human resources needs. He participates in agency decision-making as part of LCOG’s management team. He provides or oversees all areas of the HR function, including recruiting, employee relations, and benefits. He provides information, advice, and support to all LCOG divisions, departments, units, programs, managers, and staff regarding personnel rules, regulations, policies, laws, and collective bargaining agreements.
Josh received his B.A. from Harvard University in 1993 and his J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1996. Prior to moving into Human Resources, he practiced law for six years and then worked in law school administration for a decade, primarily in Career Services. Having lived previously in four other states, he found his home in Oregon when he moved to Eugene in 2008 to serve as an assistant dean at the University of Oregon School of Law.
Josh serves on the Eugene 4J School District Budget Committee, the City of Eugene Downtown Urban Renewal Expenditure Review Panel, the Lane County Elected Officials Compensation Board, and the City Club of Eugene Board of Directors. He previously served on two committees at Temple Beth Israel of Eugene, on the Board of the Lane County Chapter of the ACLU of Oregon, on a host committee for Basic Rights Oregon, and as a Founding Member and on the Board of Directors of the Springfield City Club.
