Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson, Program Manager, manages the Central Lane Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Transportation and Public Infrastructure Program at the Lane Council of Governments. He is the manager of the federal long-range Regional Transportation Plan, and conducts financial and long-range planning for the MPO. He has conducted over 100 projects for local governments, including work in all aspects of public infrastructure planning and finance. Paul developed the first land use allocation model for LCOG's transportation system model nearly 20 years ago, an updated version of which is still used today to forecast residential and employment land use patterns 20 years into the future.

Paul's expertise includes planning for the impacts of growth on infrastructure systems, developing impact fee methodologies and rate structures, user fee rate analysis, policy analysis, and financial analysis.

Paul has a Bachelor's of Science in Economics (with a focus on Resource Economics) and Urban Planning from the University of Oregon. He has nearly 30 years of experience providing economic, financial, transportation, and planning expertise and other technical assistance to clients, including 24 years at the Lane Council of Governments and 5 years with ECO Northwest, a private consulting firm.
