The Central Lane MPO Public Participation Plan seeks to ensure broad public participation during the development, review, and refinement of regional transportation programs. The intent is to involve the public early on in the transportation planning process and to include a variety of public involvement opportunities.
The Public Participation Plan serves two purposes:
Federal legislation requires the MPO to develop and implement a continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive transportation planning process. The Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU, Public Law 109-59, August 10, 2005) requires the MPO to develop and use a Public Participation Plan that is developed in consultation with all interested parties and provides reasonable opportunities for all interested parties to comment on all aspects of the MPO transportation planning process.
The public involvement processes must be proactive and provide complete information, timely public notices, full public access to key decisions, and the opportunity for early and continuing involvement. This plan complies with the requirements of TEA-21 and SAFETEA-LU.
The Central Lane MPO Public Participation Plan was approved October 1, 2015 by the Metropolitan Policy Committee (MPC)
The MPO actively targets outreach to those most directly affected by transportation planning actions and also conducts a broader outreach campaign to the general public. Public involvement includes outreach to:
