Senior & Disability Services Oakridge Meal Site Closed on August 12, 2021 for Meal Services Due To Middle Fork Complex Fires

Eugene, OR --- Senior and Disability Services (S&DS), a division of the Lane Council of Governments, will be closing the Oakridge Senior Meals Site for meal services on August 12, 2021 due to the Middle Fork Complex Fires in the Oakridge area. Senior Meals participants are strongly encouraged to use their emergency meal box meals distributed to them over the last year.

“Our Senior Meals Program is a crucial part of the work we do at Senior & Disability Services in supporting our community members throughout Lane County,” said Emily Farrell, S&DS Director. “The safety of our staff, volunteers, participants, and community partners continue to be our priority. We have been coordinating with community partners and emergency management personnel to provide services and supports as we navigate the fire emergency together.  Our Oakridge Senior Meals site will be closed on August 12th, 2021 for meal services. We will continue to collaborate and communicate with fire relief efforts in Oakridge. S&DS will continue to keep in contact with Senior Meals participants and our Oakridge consumers via phone calls, to ensure their safety and provide updates on the status of the Oakridge meal site.”

About the Senior Meals Program:
Senior & Disability Services (S&DS), a division of Lane Council of Governments (LCOG), continues to operate Café 60 dining locations and Meals on Wheels (MOW) routes across Lane County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Café 60 dining locations are providing meals to go during the pandemic and are maintaining a regular lunch operation schedule in most locations. Our MOW routes are operated in partnership with FOOD for Lane County, which provides service within the Eugene city limits. S&DS provides Meals on Wheels service within Springfield, Cottage Grove, Creswell, Oakridge, Junction City, Veneta, and Florence.  Anyone with questions about starting Meals on Wheels or picking up meals to go at a Café 60 dining location can call the Aging and Disability Resource Connection at 541-682-3353 during business hours. Any resident 60 years or older may pick up food to go at a Café 60 location, regardless of income. Last fiscal year, Café 60s served more than 71,200 meals to 931 participants and MOW served more than 192,000 meals to 1,375 participants.
